Chinese Language Immersion Camp
Don't make your child wait until high school to learn Chinese! Join us at the University of Kansas, Edwards Campus in Overland Park, as we learn this exciting language. Whether your child is new to Chinese or has studied it before, this fun immersion-method camp will teach your child to comprehend and speak Chinese, or improve their current skill level.

Lily Zhang Li Taylor
Dance Instructor/Choreographer
Ms Taylor is internationally renowned under her Chinese name of Zhang Li (pronounced jong lee). She is from Beijing where she won the National First Prize of Performance for playing the lead character in “Siluhuayu”, or “Raining Flowers on the Silk Road”, a two hour dance drama. The production was also nominated for several awards similar to our Oscar or Tony awards. She was a member of the Chinese Dancers Association and the lead female dancer for the largest troupe in China, with over 400 members.
Ms Taylor studied many styles of dance in China, starting from an early age learning traditional dance in a dance troupe. She was also taught many styles of ethnic dances over the years and has even studied ballet. She developed many dances combining her knowledge in all of the styles she has learned. She has learned styles of dance from the many dynasty periods in Chinese history, and has created several solo dances based on those styles. She is an expert in many ethnic dances such as Mongolian, Dunhuang and XinJiang Weiwuerzu. She has learned and incorporated many foreign dance styles into her creations as well, such as Indian, Spanish and Malaysian.
Over her last few years in China, she was often asked to represent her country as part of a cultural exchange group that traveled and performed in over 30 countries around the world. She gained a following and reputation for developing new dances set to traditional music and depicting historical events or legends through out Chinese history.

Liu Cheng
Journey to China Language Instructor
Liu Cheng has taught Mandarin Chinese for the Confucius Institute's elementary school program and adult non-credit language program for the past two years. He is affectionately known by his students as "Mr. Brady."
Liu Cheng taught Chinese language as a foreign language at Huazhong Normal University from 2004 - 2007. He holds a B.A. in Chinese Language and Literature from Changchun Normal University, an M.A. in Modern Chinese Language and Literature from Yunnan Normal University, as well as a Certificate for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. In 2004, Liu earned a Ph.D. in Chinese Language and Literature at Nanjing University and Huazhong Normal University (joint degree).
