Journey to China 2008

Summer Culture and Language Camps

This year’s Journey to China summer camps offered students ages 5 -12 the opportunity to learn about this exciting country. During Culture Camp, students learned to sing Chinese songs, made dragons and opera masks during craft time, played fun Chinese games, experienced eating with chopsticks, and practiced the fan dance, ribbon dance, and martial arts.

Students in the Language Camp began the process of learning Mandarin Chinese through songs, games, and art activities. By the end of two weeks, campers could count to twenty, knew how to sing seven songs in Chinese, and could write over twenty characters. They did a wonderful job perfoming a play - all in Chinese - for their family and friends on the last day of camp.
